Golden Shuttle Award

The Golden Shuttle Award is an award devised and presented by Braintree League Match Secretary Dick Williams at the end of year AGM. Dick presents it to any member of the league who in his opinion, has contributed the most to the league over the past year.

Winner of the 2008 Golden Shuttle Award was Louise Murphy (LBC). Louise has graced the badminton courts in the Braintree League for many seasons.  She has always shown good sportsmanship and immaculate dress sense on court.  The old saying of ‘if at first you don’t succeed’ applies so much to Louise, seven attempts to win the Ladies Singles being the losing finalist on 3 occasions.  This year Louise achieved ‘Ladies Singles Champion’ - Congratulations Louise!

Thanks go to ………..

Michelle Clarke

The tournament committee was delighted that the finals night trophies were presented by Michelle Clarke. Michelle is a familiar face to all of us from Felsted and more recently Felsted Ladies Badminton Club and we are sure many of us have been on the receiving end of her smashes at one time or another. More recently, Michelle has been coerced onto the tournament committee and we are grateful to her for her insightful input at meetings.

Peter Webb

Our thanks go to Peter Webb, Manager of Earls Colne Recreation Club, for the use of the club for the Finals nights. We take over the whole of the badminton hall for 3 nights during April to hold the tournament finals.

Therese and Melvin Hutton

Many thanks go to Therese and Melvin for their hard work in running the tournaments and presenting the Finals nights.

Umpires and Lines Persons

Many thanks to all those who acted as either Umpires or Lines Persons on all the matches that took place tonight.

Paul Butcher

For writing this website and keeping it as updated as humanly possible!

And finally.......

Many thanks to all you badminton club members out there for your continued support of the Braintree District Badminton League. Without you, none of this would be possible.
