The Individual Knock Out Handicap Tournament 2026

Due to popular demand, we are pleased to announce the return of the Braintree Badminton League's Handicap Tournament with the addition of the Over 55s category in the Restricted events.

Entry to the Tournament is now made online. Follow the link on the Home page and complete the form if you wish to participate. Individual entry is £8 per person.

In the Doubles events each player MUST complete their own form and PAY INDIVIDUALLY. The draw will be made in November.

This year we have the following events: (all of which we intend to run subject to a minimum number of entrants);

Main Events:

Unrestricted entries, open to all.

• Ladies Singles
• Men's Singles
• Ladies Doubles
• Men's Doubles
• Mixed Doubles

Plate Events:

For those players knocked out in their first match. This may be the second round if they had a bye in the first.

• Mens Singles
• Ladies Doubles
• Mens Doubles
• Mixed Doubles

Restricted Events:

For the Restricted events, there are two categories; Over 45s and Over 55s.

For the Over 45s events, all players must be 45 years or older on 31st October 2025

For the Over 55s events, all players must be 55 years or older on 31st October 2025

• Over 55s Ladies Doubles
• Over 45s Men's Doubles
• Over 55s Mens Doubles
• Over 45s Mixed Doubles
• Over 55s Mixed Doubles

Youth & Experience Events:

Players must have a minimum 20 year age gap with the youngest player less than 25 years old on the 31st October 2025

• Youth & Experience Mixed Doubles.
• Youth & Experience Mens Doubles.

Along with the Main tournament, a Plate tournament will be organised for those players who are knocked out in the 1st round. This will only happen if the number of original entries can support this. 

Tournament Rules

• All matches are to be arranged between the players and played by the specified date in each round.

• ALL PLAYERS CAN ONLY ENTER if they are potentially available for BOTH the Semi-Finals nights (Tuesday 19th and Friday 22nd May 2026, AND the Finals Night (Saturday 30th May 2026)

• Anyone who enters and pays but doesn't find themselves available to play (if required) on either the Semi-Finals or Finals nights will forfeit their entry fee.

• Both Semi-Finals and Finals nights will be held at Earls Colne Recreation Club, Green Farm Meadow, Halstead Road, Earls Colne, CO6 2NG (Licensed bar & café on site)

• All players that enter the competition by completing the attached form agree to abide by the rules of the event and accept any decisions made by the organising committee.

• Finally, and most importantly, ALL online entry forms and fees MUST be completed AND submitted by no later than 23:59pm on 9th November 2025.
