The Braintree District Badminton League Finals took place on Friday 21st April 2010 at the Earls Colne Recreational Club. Everyone who attended were treated to some excellent badminton throughout the evening. Trophies were presented by Ross Ranson, who somehow, didn't seem to be playing tonight!!!
Ladies Singles

Golden Shuttle Award
The Golden Shuttle Award is an award devised and presented by Braintree League Match Secretary Dick Williams at the Finals Night presentations. Dick presents it to any member of the league who in his opinion, has contributed the most to the league over the past year.
"This most prestigious award goes to someone who three seasons ago, as a junior, was a member of a team of youngsters who were entered in the Mens 4's Division 2 league.
They came bottom that season, wining only just one match. The following season they were top, only losing just one match. In last Wednesday's Semi-Finals he teamed up with his partner, Lloyd Edwards in the Mens Doubles to put out the No 1 seeds from Bishops Stortford who were Champions two seasons ago and Runners Up last season. After a short break, he was back on court to take on one of Haverhill's top players in the Mens Singles and won that as well!!
Not since Andrew Wiffen in the 1980's, Paul Farme in the 1990's and David Everstaff in 2001, has somebody of his age reached a singles final. The award for 2009/2010 goes to Tyler Peacock".

Tonight, our trophies are being presented by Ross Ranson, a legend in his own life time and a man, some of you may struggle to recognise with his normal clothes on!
Ross has been a prominent part of Finals night in recent years, reaching Singles, Mens and Mixed Finals on several occasions. This year, however, an 'over zealous' handicap committee finally caught up with him (about time too!), but we couldn't resist still letting him get his hands on the trophies and then kissing all the lady winners!!
